The very first car I owned was a 1955 Oldsmobile Holiday 88. I hope I never forget what my dad did for me. It was early in 1962 when on a Saturday morning my dad asked me to go for a ride with him. He pulled into the lot of Grebe Fischer Oldsmobile on Kings Highway Ave. in St. Louis MO. He stopped in from of a 55 Oldsmobile and got out of the car. He looked a me and said "What do you think of this car?" I was sooo excited, but didn't have enough money. Dad said he and mom would cover half, but I had to pay them back and pay the insurance. I worked at the Crest Theater at the time so I thought I could do it.

I tinkered with the car off and on for 2 years (I remember skipping school one day and going to Centeral Hardware to buy a pair of Cal Custom dummy Spot Lights.)

After graduating high school, I worked at Earl Scheib Auto Paint and Body, and got one of the super $29.95 paint jobs. Later that year the car got rear ended by a fellow who was very much under the influence.

Drove it damaged for the next year and it eventually retired to Murphy's Junk Yard.

In 1964 after I got my first real job, in EDP (Electric Data Processing) I purchased a 1932 Ford Pickup from a fellow who had a good start on a hot rod. John had already had the car all setup for a Oldsmobile engine and transmission. It had a 55 Oldsmobile rear end with coil springs. He had put Oldsmobile brakes and spindles on the 32 Ford Axle (thus the really nasty Camber Angle).

After I got the truck home I got a 55 Oldsmobile 324 Cu In engine and a 3 speed manual transmission. Put it in the truck and got it running and driving (not driving too good Camber Angle) took the truck to Marty's Alignment on Gravois in Affton and they fixed it up great.

Then sprayed the truck with Gray primer and I had a decent driver. Entered it in one of the Car Shows back then and got a Participation Trophy (WOW).

Over the years the truck went through several changes and refinements. It was painted twice, the first time was Chevy Azure Aqua, and later repainted a Lime Green with Chopped Glass for sparkle.

The Lime Green rebuild also got a 401 Cu In Buick with a Chevy 3 speed.

Really did enjoy that old truck had a ton of fun with it.

After the 32 Ford went away I bought a 37 Plymouth Coupe. The body was pretty straight and there was a ton of chrome work done to the car. The rearend was chromed, along with the inner fender panels, the front axle, etc. The seats, door panels, trunk panels were completely upholstered in a Diamond Tuft pattern (remember this was the 70's).

We installed a 318 Cu In Mopar engine and a 727 Transmission in the car.

I painted the car a Dark Green with Black fenders.

We sold the car in 1978 (I think) to a good guy, he still owns and drives the car. Dave had the car totally rebuilt a couple of years ago. It is beautiful.

In Gerry's younger days he had several fun cars. Some of the pictures are of internet stock photos and a few are of the actual vehicle. Click here to see actual pictures.

The Model A Ford was purchased as a project car. The car had a Opel frontend and a Corvette rearend. Most of the sheet metal was there and in decent shape. At the time of purchase we lived in Zell, Mo. We later moved to Camarillo, CA and then back to St. Louis, MO area.

First thing was to get frame cleaned up and all excess holes filled, the frame was painted and engine located prior to move to CA.

While in CA the frontend and rearend were painted. The engine and trasmission were rebuilt, all casting seams ground smooth and painted.

A new recessed firewall, lower cowl panels, and steering linkage was added. The top was chopped 4 inches. Added new dual fuel tanks and splash aprons.

While running the brake lines I discovered that one of the front brake calipers had a crack. Finding a new caliper was next to impossible, so I opted for a Mustang II frontend and added 2 inch dropped spindles. (Thanks to my buddy Jim W. the task was done).

We loaded the car and parts into a Ryder truck and returned to St. Louis MO area.

During the time we owned the car we built the 57 Chevy and the 48 Ford Coupe, I guess I basically lost interest in the Model A so it was sold and completed by Don Edgar.

After moving to Southern Califorina, the first car was our 57 Chevy 210 Tudor Hardtop. We bought the Chevy mostly stock with the exception of a rolled and pleated interior, Belair fender spears and Belair Bloomers. After driving the car for a few months we started making some changes, over the next several years. It should be noted that during the entire we owned the car, it was a daily driver.

First we replaced the tired 283 engine with a 327 engine, adding a 400 turbo transmission. We then lowered the frontend a bit, nosed, decked, removed the door handles, shortened the fender trim, removed the 3 fake lovers from the front fenders, rolled the gun sites on the hood, replaced the rear bumper with a bumper from 57 Chevy station wagon, and added a tube grill. The car was completely stripped for paint and primed and preped for paint. Our very close friend Tony Gambino helped with the bodywork and then painted the car. Click here for Pictures.

After we sold the 57 Chevy we bought a 48 Ford Delux Business Coupe. We drove the coupe for several months until somebody approached us and wanted to buy the Flathead engine. We sold him the engine ASAP and bought a 350 Cu In Chevy from our friend Tony G.

After adding a mild cam and a 4BBL carb, we bolted it the coupe with the help of bellhousing adapter, new clutch, and pressure plate. We drove the coupe with the small block Chevy and a stock 48 Ford drive train for many months. All of the work on the Ford was done with the help of fellow Golden Oldies Car Club members.

Finally after many months of using the Ford, we took it to Foose's Fords in Santa Ynez CA for the chop. Sam Foose chopped the coupe by removing 2 1/2 inches from the front and 5 1/2 inches from the rear. He raked the front windshield posts, and removed the rear window and then welded it back in the roof after lowering.

The Ford was brought back home and we replaced the front axle with a dropped Super Bell axle, added Disc Brakes in the front, added Valley Vintage dropped front cross member. The stock Ford drive train was replaced with a street strip Chevy 350 Turbo Transmission and a Ford 8 Inch rear end.

The body was nosed, had the chrome trim removed from the grill, shortened the hood stainless steel trim. The back end of the car had all of the trim removed and the taillights changed to 49 Lincoln Cosmopolitan(later replaced with 41 Studebaker taillights layed on their side). A 49 Chevy bumper over rider was added. The car went to Foose' Fords on Feb. 29, 1992, we got it back March 29, 1992. With the help of fellow Golden Oldies members the car was back on the road and driven to Paso Robles on May 29, 1992, A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE.

The interior received a lot of work with a guage change and several holes filled, new plexy dash knobs made at home, a 59 Chev Impala Steering Wheel, a 72 Chevy Steering Column, and white pearl paint. All of the Trim moldings received the same white pearl paint. The front seat was replaced with a front seat from a mid size Buick and upholstered in White Roll & Pleat along with all of the side panels and area between the back interior and the trunk. We lived in California and it only seemed fitting that Janet had a Convertible. We found and purchased a 66 Mustang Convertible, with a 289 Cu In engine and automatic transmission. This is the one car we regret selling. Click here for some Pictures.

We enjoyed Janets Convertible so much we bought a Coupe for Gerry. The coupe was Poppy Red with white interior. It had a 289 Cu In engine and a automatic transmission. The engine was later changed to a 302, about the time of the engine change the car became known as the Money Pit. Click here for Pictures.

1960's Pargo Electric Golf Cart - Janet and I weren't very good at golf but we sure had a lot of fun. When we got the cart home first thing we did was fix a few nicks in the body and painted it Cheverolet Marina Blue and then added chopped glass flake. Even though we weren't very good the cart looked good and sparkled in the sun. We really enjoyed everyone each time we played and the Ste. Genevieve Golf Course was beautiful. 2005 Mustang GT Convertible - Janet and I decided in October of 2022 that it was time to part with the Harley TriGlide (my age caught up with me), but we still wanted something FUN. We sold the trike and the same day we bought the Mustang. The Mustang had only 24,000 miles on it; the color was right and it was a convertbile. To see some pictures of the Mustang click here.

We decided that the Mustang did not speak as loud as it should. We replaced the stock mufflers with a set of Flowmaster Outlaws axle back and sure like the help.
